nothing even remotely interesting to note. lots of sushi. i really should learn how to make it, although i think sashimi would be easier!
after going out last night we made a white castle stop and i got cheese fries (only ok) and mozzerella sticks. maybe it was the fact that it was 4 am or maybe it is because it is hard to screw up fried cheese, but they are so good! next time, though, i think i will stick with the onion ring/mozzerella stick combination.
meanwhile, i have asparagus sitting in the freezer waiting for me to turn it into a delicious meal.
monday, maybe.

nothing interesting tonight.
i finished my goat cheese penne for lunch...not so good the third day down the line, but oh well. had a very chocolatey mrs. fields (rip) brownie.
dinner was only ok. pretty boring. leftover brown rice (still great...sesame oil is really something i plan to keep in the house at all times from now on) and a spicy chkn patty. soy chicken. its been a while. and a blue moon.
nothing much to write about, but whatever. its what was for dinner.

august 19

so, yeah. i was actually very productive this morning and totally worked out. of course, i thin killed it be eating a nasty greasy lunch of very oily thai appetizers. i mean, i love free food. and i loooove thai, but the place my boss orders from is pretty nasty. i have to wean him off it. also, he was eating a cinnabon this morning, and i was so jealous.

dinner was better, but only slightly. i pan seared some salmon, but i really think it needed something. i mean, i really dont like using salt and stuff in my cooking, but i dont know, maybe it would have helped. i really should buy some wine or something to cook with. actually, i think it was mostl because i cooked it as one would cook fresh tuna, and it just isnt the same. maybe ill try something different next time.

i also pan seared my last piece of corn. that was pretty tasty. i was a little cautious, though, since i didnt want popcorn. and the rice...oh the rice! that was really the saving grace of the meal. it was brown rice, but into the water i added vegetable boullion and some sesame oil. and that made it really awesome. i have some left over for tomorrow, and i guess ill have it with a veggie burger or something, since i have errands to run after work. its not spectacular, but i havent had a spicy chkn patty in a while, and really, it always goes well with the brown rice.

and of course, i still have my penne with goat cheese waiting for me in the office for lunch tomorrow. i think i am most excited about that!

august 18

so last night, as predicted, i had amys mac and cheese. i used to eat the mac and soy cheez (thats how they spell it), but then a friend got me all paranoid when she told me that soy makes women gain weight. and i dont need any help in that department. i can gain weight all on my own, thanks. so yeah, amys mac and cheese. however, earlier in the day i had thai food. i was getting bored with my standard chicken prik king, so i went with the massaman curry. and yeah, i think i have a new favorite. it was even better than i remember!

today was great, productive. i started an online recipe box on the food network website, and i have a ton of recipes already. i wnet bike riding through the park, TWICE, including the hill of death. i hate the freaking hill. soon ill start jogging again. very, very soon.

for dinner (yay), i made an awesome meal with the stuff i got at the farmers market. i sauteed some of the fresh garlic i bought (i really have to learn how to chop things), and added some sea salt and fresh pepper. then i threw in the cherry tomatoes i bought and let them cook down. to that i added whole wheat penne and the garlic goat cheese. and some basil. i need to buy a plant, since the stuff in the freezer is kind of funky. and that was it. it was super yummy and i have some left over for lunch tomorrow. and then i have to start thinking about what on earth i am going to make for dinner!

august 17, part 2

no matter how hard i tried yesterday, i could not keep my hands off the stuff i bought at the farmers market. the tomoatoes were amazing on their own. seriously, it makes me not want to cook them at all. so maybe ill just cook half. the corn....just pure sugar! everything i bought was just amazing.

last nights dinner consisted of the portabella, onion and goat cheese foccacia i bought at the market. it wasnt bad, but maybe next week ill try a different flavor. after meeting up with e for cops and nasty lychee shots (so vile...the man cannot make a shot for his life), the highlight of that portion of the evening was stopping at the mexican food truck and getting a cheese quesadilla. it was nothing like what i thought it would be.

the shell (i guess) was one giant soft corn tortilla. for truck food, it was freakishly fresh. inside was just lettuce, cheese and crema. i thought it could use a little bite, but the salsa sitting on the side of the cart was a little too hot. but it was good, and the shell was just amazing.

tonight is crappy movie food, im sure. or amys mac and cheese.

fun at the farmers market

first, this blog has nothing to do with anyone famous, so if you are looking for that, forget it. my name is star, and i cook for myself. i love it, i have fun doing it, so why not talk about it.

that said...today i finally woke up early/not hungover so i decided to finally check out the farmers market on the other side of the park. i took my little bike with my little bike basket and went on my merry way.

it was great! other than being evilly thirsty from the hill of death that is the bane of my existance, it was amazing. i found a great place to park speedy, and i was off. first, the goat cheese place, where my tattoos were admired. i love goat cheese,. and had a really good lemon version the other day. but they didnt have it. plus, i wanted to look around before i committed to anything.

so moving on, i went from stand to stand just loving everything. there were a few with pots of fresh herbs, and i am seriously thinking about picking some up. i still have tons in my freezer, but still, it would be nice to have it all the time.

i found a really good cheese, called bloomsday, named for joyces ulysses. so naturally, i had to try it, and (because its cheese and i am a mouse), i bought some. very little, just 1/4 lb. moving on...

there were vegetables everywhere, and i bought some really good multicolored cherry tomatoes. and some corn...mmm...corn. there was a stand with mushrooms which was packed, so i didnt really get to check it out. although, after trying a bluefoot mushroom yesterday, i dont know if anything could ever come close (and if you ever get the chance to try one, DO SO!). maybe i will check out the mushrooms next time. i did get a mushroom qand goat cheese focaccia, which will make an awesome lunch/dinner in a little while.

i also got a delicious apple-walnut muffin, although the apple cider was kind of not great and waaaaay too sweet for me. it totally did not quench my thirst.

and then...back to the goat cheese place. got a garlic pepper version, which sounds great. and some herb rolls to put it, or the bloomsday cheese on. mmm...just thinking about it makes me hungry. oh, i also got a fresh garlic bulb, which is pretty neat. kind of excited about that.

so my dinner plan. im thinking a whole wheat penne with sauteed tomatoes, garlic, goat cheese, and i dont know which herbs. i have to look and think. maybe rosemary (rosemary!), but im not sure.

not today, though. maybe monday. maybe tomorrow. ill let you know.
