fun at the farmers market

first, this blog has nothing to do with anyone famous, so if you are looking for that, forget it. my name is star, and i cook for myself. i love it, i have fun doing it, so why not talk about it.

that said...today i finally woke up early/not hungover so i decided to finally check out the farmers market on the other side of the park. i took my little bike with my little bike basket and went on my merry way.

it was great! other than being evilly thirsty from the hill of death that is the bane of my existance, it was amazing. i found a great place to park speedy, and i was off. first, the goat cheese place, where my tattoos were admired. i love goat cheese,. and had a really good lemon version the other day. but they didnt have it. plus, i wanted to look around before i committed to anything.

so moving on, i went from stand to stand just loving everything. there were a few with pots of fresh herbs, and i am seriously thinking about picking some up. i still have tons in my freezer, but still, it would be nice to have it all the time.

i found a really good cheese, called bloomsday, named for joyces ulysses. so naturally, i had to try it, and (because its cheese and i am a mouse), i bought some. very little, just 1/4 lb. moving on...

there were vegetables everywhere, and i bought some really good multicolored cherry tomatoes. and some corn...mmm...corn. there was a stand with mushrooms which was packed, so i didnt really get to check it out. although, after trying a bluefoot mushroom yesterday, i dont know if anything could ever come close (and if you ever get the chance to try one, DO SO!). maybe i will check out the mushrooms next time. i did get a mushroom qand goat cheese focaccia, which will make an awesome lunch/dinner in a little while.

i also got a delicious apple-walnut muffin, although the apple cider was kind of not great and waaaaay too sweet for me. it totally did not quench my thirst.

and then...back to the goat cheese place. got a garlic pepper version, which sounds great. and some herb rolls to put it, or the bloomsday cheese on. mmm...just thinking about it makes me hungry. oh, i also got a fresh garlic bulb, which is pretty neat. kind of excited about that.

so my dinner plan. im thinking a whole wheat penne with sauteed tomatoes, garlic, goat cheese, and i dont know which herbs. i have to look and think. maybe rosemary (rosemary!), but im not sure.

not today, though. maybe monday. maybe tomorrow. ill let you know.
